Here are a few of the beautiful fabrics I purchased during my shopping trip in the garment district in NYC! The fabrics were so beautiful, I couldn't believe how nice the quality was. Rosen and Chadick, B&Js, MOOD, Metro Textiles, and Sakhi Fabric (8th St between 37 - 38th Sts). There were also lots of other smaller stores with quite a collection! Metro Textiles is usually closed on Saturday, but he opened up the store for 3 hrs just for us. There were 25 ASG members on this venture! Here are few of my finds and what I plan to make with them. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with the green/white/black flowered fabric. It's a cotton sateen I got from MOOD. I think some kind of dress...got any ideas, let me know.
I bought the orange print stretch from Sakhi's and the cream silk jersey from Metro Textiles.
After this trip, I never want to buy fabric from JoAnns and Hancocks again!
We had so much fun, we're planning another trip in November.

Hi Tee. Really pretty fabric. This is the trip that the former MD ASG president told me about (she was going to grab some tracing paper for me). Sounds like loads of fun. And I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to ever go back to Jo-Ann's or Hancock's :-)

Great looking fabrics. Really like the black and white with green.

Hi Linda,

That's my favorite one too!
What do you think I should make with it...

I like all of your fabric choices. I've never been to NYC. That's something I will have to plan for. Thanks for your comments on my blog.

Hi Ivalyn! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I love your fabrics. I would so love to go fabric shopping in NYC. I di d once a long time ago and bought some woolens. I remember they were such good quality and I wore the garments I made for many years.
You make lovely prom dresses. The senior prom is the ultimate here in Canada too. I've made a few in the past but can't say I really enjoyed working with those slippery fabrics.
Happy Sewing!
