Sew Sew & Sew-on

Well the fittings for the proms are going great!  I LOVE Wildger Pattern software, it makes fitting my clients a piece of cake!!!!

I am busy working on three prom gowns, my priest's vestments, 3 priest stoles, 3 deacons stoles, and bridal alterations.  I somehow managed to squeeze in embroidering this design on a towel.

Here are pics of the first prom gown out of the stable. I drafted the pattern using Wildginger and my interpretation of flat pattern drafting (LOL).  It has a separate foundation piece (made of lining underlined with fusible interfacing and has a gross grain waist stay), which I love because there's no way this gown will fall down and she won't have to tug at the top of the bodice or feel insecure.  You secure it like a bra and then zip up the gown.  The "outer bodice" rests very slightly away from the bodice and is underlined with silk organza and has boning in the silk organza only.  It's my adaptation of a couture technique!  I put horsehair in the hem, and I covered the zip tape ends.  I have a bit of finishing on the inside and pressing, and she'll be ready to leave on Tuesday.

I'll be finishing up these two gowns between Fri-Sat. I'll only be leaving my house to go to my ASG meeting on Saturday and church on Sunday.  I'm off Monday so I'll get a lot done. Proms are 5/27, 5/28 & 6/2....so I'm down to crunch time. 

My Saturday ASG group has a fun meeting planned.  We're having a Project Runway Challenge.  We'll be separated into 3 groups and our challenge is to make a Preakness Inspired Dress!  I'll be sure to take pics.

After the meeting on Saturday, I'll be back at it working on the black/red sequin gown, the muslin fit her like  a glove!
