Simplicity 1657

This my latest project.  A dress I made for my client/friend!  She will be wearing this on the cruise. I normally make a long gown, but this time her husband said show your legs!!!

I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.  The pattern was very easy and came together nicely.  She chose Casa Satin coordinates from Joann's.  It used an invisible side zipper and sewed it using french seams since it's only faced, not lined.  If it didn't have this chiffon drape, I would have lined the entire dress.

I added piping to the sleeve and neck line front and back. I think piping give a garment a rich couture look!!!

The dress is too big for the mannequin so it clasping around the dress form at the bottom. It fit her very nicely.  I initially made it up in  muslin, fitting and marking the adjustments with a Sharpie.  I then used the muslin as my pattern.  I have had great success with this method, especially when sewing for my clients!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time!

Happy Sewing!!!!

I cut this pattern out in a size 10, the darts have been sewn together & then I tried it on. The dress fits perfectly except I would have hade to cut the width
2 sizes larger to even come close to fitting my petite size 8-10 body. I was just wondering if you had any trouble with the sizing on this pattern. I have used this brand & many other brands & never had this problem before ?

I made this for a client and no I didn't have any fitting challenges. It came together rather easily.
