brides, bridesmaids, wait a minute porch cushions?????

Sometimes it's like this....very slow sewing spell and then all of a sudden there are tons of last minute sewing emergencies... my wedding gown needs to more stunning; my seamstress is in the ER; I've put on a few pounds, and I'm pregnant and my gown needs alterations.

Yes, I encountered all four requests last month!  I happily solved the dilemmas of these excited brides and bridesmaids.  I always feel good about helping ease the anxiety of my clients.  If the request is not too absurd, that is!!!!!!!

Home Dec!!!!  I don't know what it is about Home Dec.  I just loose my sewing "mojo" when confronted with task.  I know, I know, just say no.  But this was a dear friend, my sister girl!!!!  I had to help her and she insisted on paying me!!!!   She wanted 6 lounge chair cushions recovered.  We went shopping for fabric and settled on a red/rust solid from Walmart and a nice floral from Joann Fabrics.

I carefully inspected how they where sewn together, carefully took one set apart so that I could use the pieces for a pattern.  The cushions were in excellent condition.  I was surprised to see that a form rope like substance was used to make the piping---not cording.  To save $$$, she decided to ditch piping in her new cushions.  Less work for me too!!!!

All in all I loved how they turned out.  I think I'll do my own porch furniture cushions next spring!!!!

You know I feel the same way...Home Dec...me...surely you don't want me to have to change my needle and stitch straight boring seams without netting and tulle and lace...stop it now...patio cushions? Well OK...how bad can it be? They sure turned out beautiful! Love the floral design!
