Proms, proms, proms!

Well I only made one prom gown this year. The young lady was referred to me by my son! Wow I didn't  think he paid much attention to my sewing, LOL. I used an older Vogue pattern 2805.

The overskirt (from Jo-Anns prom collection) was self-drafted. I cut a full circle front and attached a graduated skirt back with a center seam with an elastic waist band.  The dress fabric was a charcoal satin from fabric.com. I underlined the dress with organza and lined it with china silk. I fused a light weight fusible interfacing to the entire bodice and attached boning to the lining. I cut bias strips and added piping to the top of the bodice went in perfectly. The beaded trim was purchased on my recent trip to NY. Thanks Jerri for your help in picking it out!

I also made an organza corsage and a sequined bow tie for my friend's daughter's prom. This was a junior prom so she just purchased a dress. They were a cute couple.

This was last minute request.....vest and bow tie. I used a Jo-Ann's prom satin (teal with sparkles), the lapels were black satin.  I covered the buttons with the satin.   I don't know why I didn't take my own pics.  Here's a pic his aunt sent via cell phone.

Today I'm working on 13 majorette uniforms. I must have them all finished by Wednesday because I will be attending the Capital Jazz show this weekend!  I did all my prep work (cutting, etc.) last night, so I'll be working assembly line style to get them completed.  Luckily they are 12-13 yr old girls, no fitting issues.

Happy sewing ladies!  Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend : )
