Remake

It's been a while since I blogged.  I am still enjoying retirement.  I  have been sewing non-stop since I retired last May....proms, weddings, alterations, etc. etc etc.

I'm still sewing for me as well.  This is my second time making this dress...the first one I made in white, but the fabric started getting those little balls on it so I discarded it.  This fabric is a far superior one, so I don't think I'll have that issue again.  I purchased this fabric during my stay in Barcelona a few years ago.  I love how it feels.  It's like a thick knit.  I used my Babylock Evolve to sew most of the seams.  I used my Babylock Coverstitch for the neck edge, hem, and tie band edges.  It was a very easy dress to complete in about 4 hours.  Happy Sewing!!!!

Little "White" Dress Vogue 1091

The little black dress is a wardrobe staple.  I decided a needed a little white dress for the summer.  This dress will be great for church or work.  The directions were clear and straightforward, very simple to sew together.  I used both the serger and sewing machine to whip it up.  A beginner's pattern for sure.  Vogue 1091 is a great pattern for those of you who are afraid to work with Vogue.  I used a white knit that I purchased from Metro Textiles on my recent trip to New York.  I used my coverstitch on the sleeves and hem.

The Grand Finale

Well this is the last prom gown of the season.  This is my niece, Brianna.  She looks like a million bucks in the Kelly Rowland knock off gown.  I used a black knit from Metro Textiles for the gown.  The sheer mesh inserts are from Vogue Fabrics.
